Chuadanga poised for a bumper yield of mango

CHUADANGA, Mar 4: The mango growers of Chuadanga district and Agriculture officials are hopeful of a bumper production of mango in the district as the weather condition is found favourable.
The mango farmers of the district are delighted that the most of the trees are full of buds.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) official sources said, a total of 1,192 hectares of land have different mangos orchards this year with a projected production fixed at 16,499 metric tonnes of mango in the district.
Of them 352 hectares of land have been brought under mango cultivation in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila, 210 hectares in Alamdanga Upazila, 280 hectares in Damurhuda Upazila and 350 hectares in Jibannagar Upazila. Aslam Uddin, a mango growers of village Shibnagar under Damurhuda Upazila said, "There will be a bumper production of mango if the weather remains favourable to the last."
Baul festival begins
Another reports says: A three day long Baul festival was opened like in previous years at Bishu Sha's graveyard premises in village Sharishadanga of Mominpur union under Chuadanga Sadar Upazila of the district Tuesday morning.
The festival was organised by Bishu Sha's Mazar committee. Mr Solaiman Hague Joarder Selun, whip and local lawmaker of Chuadanga formally inaugurated the Baul festival as chief guest in presence of a huge gathering.
