Chuknagar Genocide Day today

KHULNA, May 18 (BSS): Chuknagar Genocide Day will be observed here tomorrow in memory of thousands killed in a massacre by Pakistani occupation forces at Chukanagar in the district on May 19 in 1971.
Gonohatya 71 Smriti Rakkha Parishad, a local citizen forum, has chalked out an elaborate programme to observe the day. A commemoration meeting will be held on Chuknagar College ground at 10.30am.
Chuknagar massacre is believed to be the worst one in the south western region of the country during the War of Liberation as it witnessed the slaying of at least 10,000 people in hours.
