CID asked to submit Rana Plaza collapse report on Aug 13

A Dhaka court on Monday asked the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit the probe report on August 13 on the collapse of Savar’s Rana Plaza, a multi-storey commercial complex. Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Wasim Sheikh passed the order as CID failed to submit the report. Earlier, the court fixed June 30 for submitting the report as the Investigation Officer (IO) Bijoy Krishna Kar, assistant superintendent of police of CID, failed to meet the deadline. On April 24, 2013, the nine-storey Rana Plaza collapsed at Savar Bus Stand on. Rana Plaza housed five garment factories when it caved in. A total of 1,129 people were killed and some 2,515 injured in the worst industrial disaster of the country. Rajuk on that day filed a case with Savar Model Police Station against Sohel Rana for violating the Bangladesh National Building Code. Police also filed a case accusing six people, including Sohel Rana, on April 25 on murder charge, according to UNB.
