Cigarette smoke contains harmful chemicals

RAJSHAHI, Mar 21 (BSS): Speakers at an advocacy discussion on "Tuberculosis and Smoking" here Saturday revealed that the smoke of cigarette and bidi contain over 4,000 harmful chemical substances.
Likewise, they also said around 5.4 million people are dying every year globally after being infected with various complex diseases like lung cancer and tuberculosis only due to smoking.
If the situation prolongs, they said the annual death figure might stand to around 10 million by 2030 and 70 per cent of those would be in different developing countries including Bangladesh.
In this context, they suggested strict control of smoking and tobacco use as it is high time to make the nation free from all sorts of health hazards.
