Citi, D.Net launch first round of Citi Financial IT Competition

The Citi Financial IT Case Competition (CFICC), supported by Citi Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Citi and organized by Citibank, N.A. Bangladesh and D.Net (Development Research Network) launched the first round of 2nd CFICC Wednesday.
The first round was formally inaugurated by State Minister, Ministry of Science and ICT, Architect Yeafesh Osman.
Mamun Rashid, Citi Country Officer - Bangladesh and Dr. Ananya Raihan- Executive Director, D.Net also remained present at the occasion.
The State Minister for Science and ICT appreciated Citi Bangladesh and D.Net's role in organizing a program which has created a platform for the young generation to develop innovative IT solutions for the financial sector that will ultimately lead to betterment of the country.
The aim of the competition is to provide an opportunity for young and talented minds from different public and private universities to compete in the development of unique software and information system solutions for the financial sector in Bangladesh.
It will help students improve their knowledge on the use/application of technology within the financial sector. The '2nd Citi Financial IT Case Competition' will consist of a preliminary screening round, semifinal round and a gala/final round.
This year 53 teams from 20 universities will be participating in this competition in the first round.
A Jury Board comprising of eminent personalities from different segments of the society will be supervising and assessing the case solutions based on the project evaluation guidelines.
The qualifying teams chosen in the first round will be participating in the semi-final round in June 2010. The winner of the competition will be announced in July 2010 in the final round.
