Citibank launches 'Citi Agameer Alo'

'Citi Agameer Alo' - Citi Light of the Future competition, funded by Citi Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Citigroup, and managed by Bishwo Shahitto Kendro and Citibank, N.A. Bangladesh was formally launched Thursday.
This distinctive programme aims to improve students' reading abilities and communication skills. The launching of the programme was announced by Prof. Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro and Mamun Rashid, Managing Director & Citi Country Officer - Bangladesh.
Prof. Sayeed in his speech said that, "Citi Agameer Alo through its reading program and cultural comepetition aims to mold the children of the next generation in to 'enlightened human beings."
Mamun Rashid added, "Citibank N.A. Bangladesh is glad to partner with Bishwo Shahitto Kendro and promote their country wide book reading programme in Bangladesh."
The Citi Agameer Alo programme has two components, the first component is the book reading programme and the second component is the cultural competition part. In the reading program, 7,650 school going children from 84 schools from 18 upzilla (sub-district) in 2 districts will participate in the book reading program in 2009. A total of 11,400 books will be distributed in these schools for the reading programme.
