Citibank,UDDIPAN ink deal to expand microcredit disbursement

Citibank, N.A., Bangladesh and United Development Initiatives for Programmed Actions (UDDIPAN) recently signed a banking agreement which will enable Citibank, N.A. to expand its microcredit disbursement channels in Bangladesh. Mr. Rashed Maqsood, Managing Director and Citi Country Officer for Bangladesh and Mr. Md. Emranul Huq Chowdhury, Executive Director and CEO of UDDIPAN signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Senior officials of both the organisations including Ms. Nuzhat Anwar, Financial Institutions Group Head, Shah Kamal, Senior Relationship Manager, Shah Azlan, Senior Relationship Manager, Citi Bangladesh and Mr. Sawkat Ali Talukder, Deputy Director  & Head of Micro Finance and Mr. DiptimoyBarua, Deputy Director & CFO of UDDIPAN were present at the signing ceremony. “Our expanded partnership with UDDIPAN will allow Citi to offer greater disbursement of microcredit to root level farmers who play a significant role in the development of the country” said Mr. Maqsood. Mr. Chowdhury thanked Citi for partnering with them to achieve their mission of socio economic empowerment for disadvantaged people, according to a statement.
