Citigroup named 'Best Bank in Asia' for 10th consecutive yr

Citigroup was named "Best Bank in Asia" for 2009 for the tenth year in a row by Asset Magazine, one of Asia's leading financial magazines.
In its editorial on the awards, Asset Magazine editors wrote, "Against the backdrop of the financial crisis, Citi was dedicated to expanding in this part of the world. Citi remains a force to be reckoned with in many of the markets in the region with its comprehensive franchise in commercial banking, investment banking, transaction banking and the flow business."
In 2009, Citi raised more than US$150 billion for its Asian clients across the region from debt and equity capital markets, according to data provider Dealogic. Citi was also awarded best bank in China, Indonesia, Philippines, South Korea and Taiwan. In addition, Citi was named regional best small-cap equity house and best TMT house; best foreign investment bank in India and best equity house in Hong Kong. In Australia, Citi won the best equity-linked deal and best M&A, while in Japan, Citi captured the best equity deal and best M&A deal.
