Citizens charter for textiles & jute ministry prepared
Monday, 9 June 2008
A citizens charter has been prepared for the Ministry of Textiles and Jute aiming at bringing dynamism and improving standard of its work, reports BSS.
The ministry is working for development of the foreign currency earner and environment-friendly textiles sector to compete in the world market, said an official handout Sunday.
Activities of the ministry include preparing policies on textiles and jute, keeping contact with international organisations and other countries for technical cooperation, maintaining quality control of textiles and jute goods, providing encouragement for research for their developments, and license for jute traders and exporters, taking up all activities regarding expansion of the industries of silk, handloom and multipurpose uses of jute goods.
Besides, encouragement of foreign investment and modernisation of the machinery of textiles and jute industries are among the aims of the two ministries, the release said.
Every work of the ministry at present is being carried out under four sub-sections and nine sections. The citizens charter provides description of their work and services, and time limit for providing services for individuals and organisations.
It is hoped that the citizens charter would be specially helpful to ensure rights of the citizens. All information related to the citizens charter would be available on the website of the ministry www.motj.gov.bd, the release added.
