City apartment fire tamed

A fire broke out in an apartment at Paribagh in Kalabagan area in the city on Sunday. Nilufar Yasmin, the duty officer at the Fire Brigade and Civil Defence headquarters in Phulbaria, said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the second floor of a ten-storey building near Hatirpool’s Motaleb Plaza in the morning. Inmates of the building and its chief caretaker said the fire broke out around 8:55am from the 2nd floor. On information, two fire fighting units from Palashi fire station rushed in and doused the flames around 9:35am. However, no casualty was reported in the incident, according to UNB.
