City corp, municipality bills may be passed in next JS session

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry Wednesday asked the ministry concerned to take steps to get the bills on city corporation and municipality passed in the next session of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS), reports BSS.
The committee, at a meeting held at the JS Bhaban with its Chairman M Rahmat Ali in the chair, also asked the ministry to take necessary measures to place bills on union council and district council in the next session.
The meeting discussed various development projects undertaken by Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), prog-ress of project implementation and future work plans.
Besides, it reviewed various development projects implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
The JS body reviewed the progress of the activities of the subcommittee to probe irregularities and corruption in Dhaka City Corporation (DCC).
The committee advised the subcommittee to look into the allegations of corruption in appointment of contractors, mosquito control programme and allocation of DCC shops.
Committee members State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury, Mostafizur Rahman, M Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, M Manowara Chowdhury, M Abul Khayer Bhuiyan and Ashrafun Nesa Mosharraf took part in the meeting.
Local Government Division Secretary Manzur Hossain and Rural Development and Cooper-atives Division Secretary Samar Chandra Pal were also present along with officials concerned.
