City elections

Wednesday, 8 April 2015

With elections for the three city corporations only a few weeks away, political activities of the country have taken a sharp turn towards election. Politics and everything now seems to revolve around it. The election commission will also be tested and we hope it will successfully come through. The opposition, on the other hand, has also taken a wise decision to participate in the elections.
The ruling party should give the opposition enough space to prove that a free, fair and acceptable election is possible under a party government. The common people are excited about the upcoming elections and they are eager to cast their votes from which they were deprived in the last general elections. The outcome of this election will have a big impact on our future politics. The role of the administration, particularly that of the law enforcing agencies, will be closely observed by the people.  Much depends on activities of the EC which will be closely monitored by everyone. The common people are happy with the return to normal politics from politics of turmoil and violence. They are now busy organising the voters in support of their respective candidates as they know very well that the result will have a big impact on our national politics in the days to come.
