City elections: Enthusiastic voters

The city corporation election is only two weeks away and we see a flurry of activities of the contesting candidates. The politics of our country at present is revolving around this election and both the major political alliances are doing their best to woo the voters in their favour. I hope the city dwellers will choose honest candidates who have clean slates as far as sincerity and integrity are concerned. Only upright and honest people can work for the betterment of the people while their opposite numbers will be busy in fulfilling their own interests leaving the people in the lurch. Dhaka is a mega city and it has been struggling to cope up with its burgeoning population. I believe only honest and dedicated leadership will be able to rescue Dhaka from its present state and make it a modern capital worth its name. We all hope, the city elections will be held in a free and a fair manner  so that the voters can come and cast their votes in large numbers. The election commission should deploy army so that the voters can vote without fear or harassment. The city corporation election will strengthen the democratic values and uphold the voting rights of the citizens.
