City IT 2008 attracts buyers

The BCS Computer City has been successfully organising computer fairs since 1999 to market different ICT products in the country. The seventh annual fair kicked off at IDB Bhaban on May 24 with a target to attract more than 150,000 visitors . The sale target was set at Tk 1,000 million.

The organisers said the fair "City IT 2008" has received good response from corporate and individual buyers.

They said almost all the participating 150 vendors are making attractive offers to the buyers.

The visitors can shop around, compare prices and chose from a wide variety of products, brought by a large number of sellers, all under one roof. The sellers compete by lowering prices to attract buyers.

Besides, daily raffle draw, lottery against entry tickets also lure many people to the fair.

At the computer fair, a huge stock of computers, computer parts and electronic related devices are on offer at competitive prices. Notable among the products are: Notebooks, Desktops, Servers, Printers, Monitors, LCD Monitors, Wireless Routers, RAM, Video Cards, Motherboards, Printers, Ink for Printers, Sound Systems, Software of all kinds, Digital Cameras, thousands of games, CDs, DVDs, electronic components, Cables and what not.

Also on sale are branded products, such as, Intel, asus, MSI, Samsung, TwinMOS, Lexmark, Canon, Acer, LG, DELL, Gigabyte, HP, Toshiba, besider others'.

Foyzul Kibria, assistant Manager of TECH VIEW LTD, said that this year, most of the buyers are showing interest for notebook PCs because of special offers. He said the prices range from Tk 42,000 to Tk 185,000 depending on the configuration. And notebook companies are providing good service to the customers. ACER is at the top, said a fair participant.

Clone PCs have more buyers. Many people upgrade their PCs during the weeklong fair.

City IT Fair 2008 is a treat for all the technology lovers. It's an open platform for all companies to showcase their products and technologies.

The fair seek to introduce the people to new technologies and provides the opportunity to buy at competitive prices. The organisers also tried to make the event interesting by hosting debate competitions, stage shows, children's painting competitions to popularise the fair.
