City parks, sports ready for Eid vacationers

Different amusement parks and spots in Dhaka city have taken special preparation on the occasion of Holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims, to spread joy among the children. Like previous years, they have taken some additional measures such as illumination of different riders and cleaning the parks and spots, for visitors, especially the children from families who permanently live in the capital or those could not leave the city. Shishu Park of the Dhaka City Corporation in Shahbagh is the main attraction of children and also adults during Eid holidays because of affordable ticket prices. The authorities have cleaned the park and repaired different rides. The park will remain open for 12 hours from 9:00am without any break during three Eid holidays. The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre at Bijoy Swarani is expected to attract a large number of visitors during the Eid holidays. The children from the families who permanently live in Dhaka or those who could not leave the city will be rushing to different amusement parks during three-day holidays. Authorities of the National Zoo have also completed their preparation for visitors. Some inmates of the zoo, including peacocks, hippopotamus and giraffe have recently given birth to cubs which are expected to extra attraction for visitors, said deputy curator of the zoo Dr SM Nazrul Islam. He said some additional ticket selling counters will be opened and a committee has been constituted to maintain security for visitors. They have planned to set up a control room to spot harassment of visitors during Eid holidays. "If all goes well, including weather, we expect 80-90 thousand visitors will visit every day," he added. The National Botanical Garden which is adjacent to the zoo will also attract people. Besides, a large number of city dwellers are expected to visit the National Museum, Ahsan Manjil, Lalbagh Fort and museum, the lush green grounds of Chandrima Uddan, National Parliament, Gulshan Lake and Dhanmondi Lake and Baldha Garden during Eid holidays. City's elite entertainment parks such as Nandan, Fantasy Kingdom, Heritage Park and water Kingdom have completed preparation for Eid vacationers, according to a news agency.
