City warehouse fire burn victim dies

A young man who suffered burn injuries in a fire at a perfume warehouse at Chawkbazar in old part of Dhaka on Wednesday, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday. The victim was identified as Kabir Hossain, 32. Kabir, who was undergoing treatment with 80 percent of burns on the body, succumbed to his injuries at the burn and plastic surgery unit of the hospital in the morning, DMCH sources said. Sources at the Fire Service control room said the fire had originated at the warehouse on the 3rd floor of a six-storey building near AC Mosque at Hakim Habibur Rahman Road under Chawkbazar Police Station at about 6:15 pm, leaving three people, including Kabir, severely burnt. They were rushed to the burn unit of DMCH where their condition was stated to be critical. Kabir died there around 7:30am. The two other burn victims are Mofiz, 40, Aziz, 30, according to UNB.
