Clarification (2022-06-03)

Some errors occurred in our news item titled 'Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway: Korean co set to be O&M operator' published on page 8 in Wednesday's issue of The Financial Express.
We need to clarify parts of the news story as follows:
The Roads and Highways Department (RHD) recommended the Tk 7.17 billion (Tk 717 crore) financial proposal of the Korean Expressway Corporation (KEC) to carry out toll collection, intelligence traffic service (ITS) operation and operation and maintenance work of the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga Expressway. The Korean company submitted the proposal involving its two sub-contractors-S-Traffic Company Limited and Tele Tell Communication.
The Tk 7.17 billion proposal was likely to place before the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Wednesday.
The initial proposal involved Tk 6.83 billion. But the proposal evaluation committee added VAT and other taxes to it to put the final figure at Tk 7.17 billion.
The company submitted two proposals. The company submitted the first one involving the two subcontractors and put the initial cost at Tk 6.83 billion. The company submitted the second proposal alone and put the cost at Tk 7.89 billion. The authorities concerned recommended acceptance of the first proposal because of the lower initial cost it involved than the other.
