Clash between two groups leaves 60hurt in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, Nov 12: At least 60 villagers were injured twelve of them critically in a clash between two groups of Babargati village under Gopalganj sadar Today.
It is learnt that today morning Wadut Sardar group versus Jubair Sardar group of village Babargati under Gopalganj sadar upazila of Gopalganj district engaged in a clash over previous enmity. Both groups used country-made weapons.
As a results 60 villagers were injured, twelve of them critically. They were admitted to Gopalganj sadar hospital.
The critically injured are Heru Sardar (55), Rabul Sardar (30), Ramjan Sardar (20), Ibrahim Sardar (25), Montu Sardar (35), Jontu Sardar (33), Wohid Sardar (35), Anis Sardar (38), Kabul Sheikh (35), Abdur Rashid Sheikh (22), Mansur Sheikh (70) and Jakir Sheikh (35). Of them Ibrahim Sardar was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
On information Gopalganj thana police and RAB reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
A case was filed with Gopalganj P.S in this connection.
River project in progress
The construction work of Modhumati river protection embankment, under Tarail Pachura Flood Control Drainage Irrigation (FCDI) project (2nd phase) in Gopalganj is progressing fast.
According to official source, 60 percent work of the project already been completed with Tk. 10 crores 39 lakhs and the total estimated cost of the project stand at Tk. 18 crores 90 lakhs and 67 thousand. The work started in October last year and it will come to an end in December this year with financial assistance by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), sources said.
Nobo Kumar Chowdhury Executive Engineer BWDB, Gopalganj who is closely monitoring the project, told this correspondent that they are strictly maintaining the standard of the work.
Local elites urged the higher authority to take necessary steps for quick implementation of the project.
