Clash over jute processing injures 20

At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups following a dispute over jute processing at Hakimpur village in Shailkupa Upazila in Jhenidah on Wednesday. Police and witnesses said the two groups engaged in an altercation over jute rotting in a cannel at 11.00am. In sequel to the incident, the two rival groups – led by Atiar Rahman and Amin Mondol – equipped with home-made bombs and other lethal weapons – attacked each other leaving 15 people injured in the afternoon. The attackers vandalised at least four houses of their rivals. Being informed, police rushed in and quelled the situation. The injured were admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital and Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex, according to a news agency.
