Clash over land kills one in Sunamganj

SYLHET, Aug 21 (UNB): A young man was shot dead and 19 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups over land-related dispute at Asampur village in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Akbar Hasan, 32, a resident of the village.
Police said there was a longstanding dispute between Akbar Hasan and Askir Ali over the possession of a piece of land in the village.
As a sequel to their conflict, supporters of Askir Ali attacked and opened fire on Akbar's men triggering a bloody clash between the two rival groups that left Akbar dead on the spot.
