Classroom, exam hall crisis at DU

Saturday, 9 October 2010

Dhaka University (DU) students are facing classroom and exam hall crisis which is seriously hampering academic activities, resulting in session jam.
Besides, many classrooms are so small in size that a number of students are obliged to keep standing in the class, sources said.
Some 26 departments of the Arts building are running with only four examination halls.
The sources said that most of the departments, particularly the departments of Arts Faculty, are running with only one or two permanent classrooms.
Teachers cannot take scheduled classes in time due to the classroom scarcity. As a result they have to take classes beyond the schedule - either early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
The sources also said that departments of Anthropology, Philosophy, General History, Mass Communication and Journalism and Islamic History are running with single permanent classroom.
