Cleaning campaign in Rangamati to attract more tourists

RANGAMATI, Dec 12 : Rangamati Municipality has launched a week-long cleaning campaign on Thursday in the hilly town aimed to attract more tourists during the current winter season. Mayor of Rangamati Municipality Saiful Islam Chowdhury and UNO of Rangamati Sadar Upazila Rumana Rahman Shampa jointly launched the campaign by distributing plastic rubbish bins among town dwellers and the traders of Bonorupa Market area of the town. At a function on the occasion, the mayor urged the town dwellers and the owners of business establishments to keep clean their premises by putting garbage into plastic rubbish bins for a better view of the hilly town as well as maintaining healthy environment. Municipality officials, ward councilors, elites of the town and people concerned were present at the launching ceremony. Saiful Islam Chowdhury said the campaign also launched to create consciousness among the town dwellers for maintaining healthy environment to attract more tourists from home and abroad.     — BSS
