The students and house tutors of Salimullah Muslim (SM) Hall of Dhaka University (DU) started a cleanliness campaign on Tuesday.
Professor Sayema Haque Bidisha, DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (VC) (Administration) of the university inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
SM Hall Provost Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun presided over the event. Prof. Bidisha thanked the hall administration and the students for initiating the cleanliness programme.
She asked them to keep the university campus and halls clean and beautiful.
"This is our responsibility," she said, adding that everyone involved with the university has to work together, so that there is progress in the education provided and research conducted by the institution.
The DU Pro-VC urged the students to stand beside the people of the country in addition to continuing various voluntary activities.
Dr. Mamun said the students and teachers are conducting this cleanliness operation as a symbolic program to purge all the malpractices of the society, including the university's guestroom tradition, torture, injustice and oppression.
