Closed-door meet discusses burning economic issues

A high-profile meeting behind closed doors at the ministry of finance (MoF) Tuesday discussed some burning issues, incidentally amid some major developments on financial front.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith presided over the meeting, the proceedings of which remained cloaked as there was no official briefing.
None of the attendees, contacted by the FE, also agreed to divulge outcome of the consultation.
However, according to unofficial sources, issues like providing funds to the cash-strapped Farmers Bank Ltd, adjustment to banks' advance-deposit ratio, and a tangle over selection of strategic partner for Dhaka Stock Exchange came up for discussion.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir, financial institutions division senior secretary Eunusur Rahman, finance secretary in-charge Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) chairman Dr M Khairul Hossain, and Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) Managing Director Kazi Sanaul Hoq, among others, attended the meet.
