Tuesday, 9 June 2015

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the government is considering a ‘Cluster Project’ for the people of the enclaves to provide them with civic amenities like health, education, drinking water, sanitation and roads and other infrastructures. The long-awaited Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) between India and Bangladesh were ratified by the parliaments of the two countries and the two neighbours also exchanged the instruments of ratification that took place in presence of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Dhaka on Saturday. The Indian prime minister left Dhaka on Sunday night after a two-day official visit to Bangladesh. Talking to the UNB Bangladesh’s Planning Minister Mustafa Kamal said he was awaiting the necessary directives from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in this regard, which he expects to receive soon. The Prime Minister last month asked the district officials, border guards, law enforcement agencies and political leaders to remain careful against any ploy to create trouble in the enclaves along the Indian border by any quarter. The Planning Minister also said his ministry has a definite role in this regard, adding that the suggestion of a ‘Cluster Project’ would be made to all the concerned ministries on behalf of his ministry, to improve the living standards of the people of the enclaves as well as to enhance their working efficiency. Kamal stated that various projects would be undertaken to ensure education, health, drinking water, sanitation and roads and other infrastructures for the people of the enclaves under the ‘cluster project’, according to UNB.
