CMC closed following death of student

Our Correspondent CHITTAGONG, Oct 22: All classes and examinations have been suspended at the Chittagong Medical College until further order following the death of a student at the campus last night Authorities have announced closure of the college after an emergency meeting of the academic council held early morning today. Students have been asked to leave the college campus and dormitories within 7.0 am. Principal of the college Selim Jahangir said students have vacated the campus within 8.0 am. Decision to close the college was taken to avoid further clash, he said. Abidur Rahman Abid (22), a third year student of the dental surgery department of the college, was attacked allegedly by workers of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Wednesday afternoon. He succumbed to his injuries Friday night at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Abid was the son of Nurul Kabir Chowdhury of Boroitali village under Chakaria upazila of Cox'sBazar district.
