CMM summons Mirza Alamgir

A Dhaka court on Thursday summoned BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for calling Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ‘a killer’ and her party Awami League ‘a party of killers’. Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Adit Kumar Dey passed the order upon a petition filed by lawyer Shariful Islam on behalf of the complainant. The magistrate also asked Mirza Alamgir to be present in his court on January 22, 2015. On September 1, SM Nur-e-Alam Siddique, vice-president of Awami Matsajibi League, lodged a complaint against the BNP leader with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court for his comments. The same day (September 1), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Rani Chakraborty ordered the officer-in-charge of Paltan Police Station to submit a probe report. On December 15, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the Paltan Police Station Tofail Ahmed submitted the probe report on the matter to the court. Complainant SM Nur-e-Alam Siddique was present in the court during the issuance of summons against Mirza Alamgir. In the complainant, it was stated that Mirza Fakhrul termed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ‘a killer’ and her party Awami League ‘a party of killers’ at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office on August 24, according to a news agency.
