CMP takes security control of Peninsula Hotel March 5

CHITTAGONG, Mar 2: Chittagong Metropolitan Police has taken control of the security of The Hotel Peninsula in the port city from March 5 ahead of two World Cup cricket matches at the local venue Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The metropolitan police authority said the hotel will be in control of the law enforcement agency to ensure flawless security to the players and guests from home and abroad during the matches. Bangladesh World Cup Cricket Team arrives Chittagong on March 5 to face England on March 11 and Netherlands on March 14. All players of the three teams will stay in the Peninsula Hotel. The CMP authority has also requested the Peninsula management to suspend all DJ parties and other functions at the Banquet Hall during the Chittagong matches. The decisions were taken at a meeting of the CMP and other law enforcement agencies with the Peninsula management at the Hotel Wednesday afternoon. "All guests and players will go through security checking and the Hotel management has been requested to ensure that the boarders do not feel annoyed or dissatisfied at this," said CMP additional Commissioner Shafiqul Islam. Another meeting of all the law enforcement agencies will be held on Thursday to finalize the overall security system in the city, he added.
