CNG filling stations put off strike until Aug 24

The owners of CNG refuelling stations have postponed their non-stop countrywide strike till August 24 in response to a government request. The strike was scheduled to begin at 6 am tomorrow (Sunday).
"We have postponed the strike following the request of state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu," president of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners' Association Zakir Hossain Nayon, told the FE Saturday.    
He said they held a meeting with the state minister at his residence in the city on the day. The two-hour meeting resulted in the postponement of the strike as the state minister has assured them to implement their five-point demand by August 14 next.
"The state minister assured us of implementing our five-point demand by August 14, 2014. So, we postponed our strike," he said.
 Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners' Association had earlier  announced the strike to realise their 5-point demand.
