CNG price may be slashed soon

Price of compressed natural gas (CNG) used in motor vehicles is likely to be reduced soon, reports UNB.
This was indicated by State Minister for Power and Energy Brigadier General (retd) Enamul Haque after a meeting with the CNG station owners' association Tuesday.
"We'll rationalise the CNG price. We think that there are some justified logics in favour of the demands of the CNG station owners," he told reporters.
The CNG re-fuelling station owners have been demanding to reduce the price to Tk 13.26 from Tk 16.75 per cubic metre at the consumer level, fixing feed gas price at Tk 5.23 like other industries, cancellation of minimum billing system, installation of electronic volume conductor on emergency basis, reducing BERC licence fee, cancellation of cash security deposit, and exempting CNG stations from DoE no-objection certificate.
The Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association had earlier announced to go on strike from August 1, but later deferred to August 17 in response to government request.
The leaders of the association who attended the meeting said the state minister gave them assurance of fulfiling their certain demands.
"We would take a decision after discussing the situation in our meeting on August 13," said a leader.
