Coach Nayeemuddin likely to return soon

Tuesday, 4 September 2007

Bangladesh football team coach Syed Nayeemuddim is expected to return in a day or two after his over weeklong vacation in India, reports UNB.
Talking to the news agency Monday, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) acting general secretary Manjoor Hossain Malu informed that he talked with Nayeemuddin over phone Sunday and was told that his return is being delayed due to visa problem.
"We already talked with the Indian High Commission here about the matter and the High Commission assured us to resolve the problem as early as possible," he said.
Asked about the preparations for the ensuing 3rd Grand Royal Challenge Cup tournament in Myanmar, Malu said they would pick up a 30-member preliminary squad soon after coach Nayeemuddin returns.
Bangladesh will take part in the tournament to be held in Myanmar on November 1-7.
The Under-23 booters will represent Bangladesh in the tournament. BFF will pick up the best performers from the Nehru Cup and Merdeka Cup squads to form the preliminary Bangladesh squad.
Earlier, on August 18, Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) invited BFF to participate in the tournament.
The MFF also invited four other countries -- Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam -- to take part in the tourney.
In 2005, Bangladesh finished runners-up in the Grand Royal Challenge Cup tournament.
