Coaching centre, beauty parlour gutted in city

A coaching centre and a beauty parlour were gutted by a fire that broke out in Siddheswari area in the city on Thursday. Fire service officials said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the beauty parlour on the first floor of the three-storey building beside Kalimondir around 7:53am and it soon engulfed the adjacent coaching centre, Combined Tutorial Coaching Centre, on the same floor. On information, 3 firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after half-an-hour of frantic efforts. The losses from the fire were assessed at Tk 1 million, according to a news agency.
