Coast Guard arrest 56 \\\'illegal immigrants\\\'

Bangladesh Coast Guard detained 56 people foiling their bid to travel to Malaysia illegally from Sonadia Dwip (island) in Cox’s Bazar district on Saturday night. Sources at the Coast Guard headquarters said an operational team from Coast Guard Station Cox’s Bazar conducted a drive at Sonadia under Moheshkhali Police Station at around 9:30pm. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the human traffickers reportedly fired gunshots and then fled the scene. However, no casualty was reported in the incident. The detained people were brought to Coast Guard Station Cox’s Bazaar in the night and later handed over to Moheshkhali Police Station on Sunday for taking legal step, according to UNB.
