Coast guard recovers 3.0m shrimp fry in Hatiya

Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 3 million shrimp fry and detained five people after raiding Katakhali of Hatiya in Noakhali district early Wednesday, reports UNB.
Sources at the Coast Guard headquarters said acting on a tip-off, an operational team from Coast Guard Station Hatiya under South Zone conducted a raid at an engine-run boat on the mighty river Meghna at Charchenga of Katakhali at about 3:00 am.
The law enforcers recovered around 3 million shrimp fry worth around Tk
6 million searching the boat and detained two boat men and three shrimp
fry traders in this connection. They handed over the detained people along with the engine boat to
fisheries officer of the district to take legal action, while the seized shrimp fry were released into the river water in presence of the fisheries officers.
