Coast Guard rescues tokay gecko pair worth millions

Bangladesh Coast Guard rescued two Takkhok (tokay gecko) worth around Tk26 million from Khulna and released them into the Sundarbans on Tuesday.
Sources at the Coast Guard headquarters said acting on a tip-off, an operational team of Coast Guard West Zone conducted simultaneous drives at a place near Mongla EPZ and Laudob area of Dacop upazila from 4:30 am and rescued the two Takkhoks.
The law enforcers involved in the drives said that the pair of rescued tokay gecko were to be sold to smugglers at Tk 80-100 million.
Later, the Takhkoks were released in Karamjal area of Sundarban mangrove forest in presence of local journalists and forest officers.
