FE Report | Wednesday, 14 March 2018
Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) in separate drives seized 2.55 million Yaba tablets in the country's coastal areas including Saint Martins, Teknaf and Shah Porir Dwip during the period from January 1 to March 12, 2018.
The law enforcement agency will also continue to carry out similar operations in the days to come to check narcotics dealing and smuggling in the coastal region, a statement said Tuesday.
The BCG Director General (DG) Rear Admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury said the force will maintain zero tolerance policy to such types of offences.
"We need to create mass awareness and build up social resistance against those crimes," he said, adding, "We are pledge-bound to build a drug- free society."
The maritime security organisation regularly patrols coastal areas to check any sort of crime, the statement added.
