Coca-Cola says no BVO in BD products

Coca-Cola Bangladesh has said its beverages produced for the country's market do not contain the controversial ingredient BVO, which the company is removing from some of its products in the US market, reports bdnews24.com.
"In Bangladesh, there is no product manufactured or sold by the company that contains BVO," Coca-Cola Bangladesh chief Shadab Ahmed Khan said in a press release issued on Thursday.
On Monday, Coca-Cola announced in the USA that it would remove the controversial flavouring stabiliser from some of its drinks, following the rival of PepsiCo Inc's announcement earlier in the year that it would drop the ingredient from its drinks.
The global beverage giant has, however, maintained that the preservative is harmless.
"Brominated vegetable oil (BVO) is used in some of our beverages to improve the stability of our products, preventing certain ingredients from separating," the Coca-Cola Bangladesh release said.
