Cold wave paralyses life in N dists

Pry school classes start at 10:00am

The government on Monday rescheduled school hours at primary level as temperatures dropped further across the country with a mild cold wave sweeping in the country's northern districts.
According to a decision taken on the day, all government primary schools will begin classes at 10:00 am and the rescheduled school timing will remain in force until January 31.
It has also upheld the previous decision to keep schools shut if the daytime temperature falls below 10 degrees Celsius.
A total of 21 districts, including most of the districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur division, are now affected by sever cold.
The Met office on Monday said rains were recorded in two places of the country on Sunday. It might rain in some parts of the country next Wednesday.
The lowest temperature in the country was recorded at 8.1 degrees at Badalgachhi in Naogaon and simultaneously in Dinajpur. Dhaka experienced the lowest temperature of the season at 12.1 degree Celsius on Monday
Normal life was disrupted by the cold weather, particularly in the north. Many kept confined themselves indoor even during daytime. However, daily wage earners had no option but to come out in search of work.
Farmers across the country reported the extensive damage the sever cold, accompanied dense mist, was causing to vegetables and Boro seedbeds.
Hospitals across the country are also experiencing a rush of patients, mostly children, suffering from cold, fever and respiratory problems.
