Collective effort to fight cyber crime stressed

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Benazir Ahmed Thursday stressed the need for collective effort to resist cyber crime as it has been increasing alarmingly day by day, reports BSS.
"Criminals are using technology in committing crimes and terrorism and this way cyber crime has been increasing. They are spreading formula on how to produce bombs and attack policemen through websites like Basherkella and New Basher Kella. So, it is needed to fight them," he said this while addressing a workshop on "Cyber Crime and Exercise of Information and Communication Technology Act" organised by Inside Bangladesh Foundation at a city hotel Thursday.
Additional police commissioner of DMP Md Abdul Jalil, president of organisation Rashed Ali Khan and deputy police commissioner Molla Nazrul Islam were preset on the occasion.
Twenty police officials, eight from eight crime divisions, eight from four zones of detective branch and four from traffic department took part in the workshop.
"Nowadays, three crore people are using internets while 3.3 million of them use facebook. The criminals are relentlessly using technology and they had disseminated distorted and false information about Operation Shapla on May 5," the DMP police chief said.
