Collective efforts for grassroots\\\' economic elevation stressed

RAJSHAHI, July 16 (BSS): Speakers at a discussion said collective efforts of all government and non-government organisations concerned has become indispensable for substantial and sustainable improvement of living and livelihood condition of grassroots people.
The viewed the village and rural areas are widely adjudged as the main source of food security alongside boosting competent manpower so there is no alternative to uplift the rural areas adequately.
Mohanpur Upazila administration organised the discussion at its newly renovated hall room of the district Monday where various issues on rural development especially law and order, agriculture, health and education discussed elaborately.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helal Uddin and Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively with Prof Abdus Samad, Chairman of Upazila Parishad, in the chair.
UNO Khandaker Yeasir Arefin, Assistant Commissioner Land Soniya Binte Tabib, Officer-in-Charge of Mohanpur Police Station Abdul Hamid, Agriculture Officer Khayer Uddin Mollah, Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Amir Uddin and Upazila Vice-chairman Banesha Begum also spoke.
The speakers expressed their optimism that Bangladesh would become a middle-income country by 2021 if the present development spree in all sectors continues.
They said the development programmes carried out in all sectors, including Agriculture, Industry, Power, Education, Health, Investment, Food Security, Social Safety net, Women Empowerment, Environment, Information and Communication and Technology are remarkable.
Chief Guest Helal Uddin said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina has been working for the last six and a half years for the well being of the people.
