College admission results out

The results of the first merit list for college admission for the academic year 2015-2016 are out. The list was published on the education ministry's website early Monday. Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan announced at a press briefing at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in the city on Monday that the list is out. The education secretary said the results are available in http://xiclassadmission.gov.bd , mobile SMS and in the education board. The colleges can also download the result from education board website using their password. When contacted President of the sub-committee and also Dhaka Education Board Chairman Prof Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the matter, saying the results were published on the website around 12:30am on Monday. Earlier, the Dhaka Education Board chairman had said the results would be out on Sunday. Contacted on Monday morning, Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan reconfirmed that the results are available on the ministry website www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd .

The results for class XI admission for academic session 2015-2016 which were scheduled to be out on Thursday could not be published due to technical glitches on the website. The Buet authorities said they found the webpage hacked several times and steps were taken to restore the website soon, he had said. A total of 1156,000 students applied for admission as college admissions have been based on results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations for the last few years, according to a news agency.
