College girl assaulted in city for refusing love proposal

A female student was assaulted by four young men in Demra area in Dhaka city on Saturday afternoon allegedly for refusing a love proposal. Police arrested three of the assaulters after the victim filed a case with Demra Police Station in this regard. Victim is a college student. Her elder sister said the four youths waylaid the girl at Konapara around 1pm when she was returning home after providing tuition at a local residence. They physically assaulted her when she refused a love proposal offered by one of them. The hoodlums kicked and punched her, and hit her in the head with a brick. The victim was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she received treatment at the One-stop Crisis Centre. Later, she filed a case against the four youths – Rakib, 25, Babu, 24, Badshah alias Babu, 25, and Imran Hossain, 25 – in this connection, said police. Following the filing of the case, police arrested Rakib, Babu and Imran from the area, according to a news agency.
