College girl stabbed by stalker in city

A stalker stabbed a college girl as her parents protested stalking by the spoilt youth in city's Jurain area Monday, reports UNB. The victim was identified as Mahmuda Akhter, a 1st year HSC student of Central Women's College in capital and daughter of Mohammad Ali Hawlader, a resident of Medical Road of East Jurain. Hospital sources, quoting Mohammad Ali, said their neighbour, Rafique, was stalking Mahmuda for the last one year. Rafique, a spoilt youth, also resides at Medical Road. Parents of Mahmuda complained to the guardians of Rafique but in vein. Angered by the complaint, Rafique swooped on Mahmuda when she came out of her residence at about 9:30am. She was going to meet one of her relatives. Rafique indiscriminately stabbed Mahmuda with a sharp weapon and fled the scene leaving her seriously injured. She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Rafique went into hiding after the incident. Meanwhile, a gang of armed muggers snatched cash and valuables after inflicting bullet injury to a driver in the city's Badda area Monday. The bullet-hit victim was identified as Mustafa Sikder, driver at a cement factory and also a resident of Plot No 94 at Old Thana Road under Badda Police Station. Witnesses said Mustafa was returning home at North Badda. A gang of muggers attacked Mustafa firing shots at him.
