College student dies as bus hits bike on Mayor Hanif Flyover

A female student of Titumir College died and a man was injured after a bus hit a motorcycle on Mayor Hanif Flyover at 12noon on Tuesday in the city's Jatrabari area.
Police identified the deceased as Sadia Afrin Urmi (22), a third-year student of marketing department of the college and hailed from Netrakona district. The man, identified as Nazmul Islam, was driving the bike. He sustained minor injuries.
Urmi was Nazmusl's sister-in-law. They were on their way to a restaurant in the city's 300-feet area to attend their relatives' wedding anniversary celebrations.
On Hanif Flyover, the bus hit Nazmul's bike from behind. Urmi was rescued and brought to Dhaka Medical College & Hospital (DMCH). The doctor declared her dead at around 4:30pm. Nazmul received minor injuries in his hands and on feet.
Urmi was living along with her family in a rented house next to Dholaipar, near Donia Club.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bacchu Mia said, her body was kept at the hospital's morgue for autopsy.
Police arrested the bus driver and seized the bus.
