College student hacked to death in Gazipur

Md Masud (20), was a second-year student of Kaliakoir Degree College, was alone at home in Chhoto Latifpur village when he was attacked around Saturday midnight, Kaliakoir police SI Md Shahidul Islam said.   
His father Nurul Islam Nabi and mother were away visiting a relative. Local people caught ‘Parvez’, 20, and ‘Amit’, 22, and handed them over to the police. “The two had entered Masud’s room and locked it from inside. Neighbours heard Masud’s screams and caught them while they were trying to escape.”
Masud was rushed to the Kaliakoir Upazila Health Complex, where duty doctors pronounced him brought dead. A blood-stained farming scythe was recovered from the scene of the crime. Masud had nearly 50 slashes on his body, SI Shahid said, quoting doctors.
The police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing, according to bdnews24.com.
