College student killed in Satkhira clash

SATKHIRA, Jul 11 (UNB): A college student was killed and 15 people were injured in a clash between residents of two villages in Ashashuni Upazila Friday.
The deceased was identified as Habibullah, 22, son of Alimuddin of Paschim Bakra village in the upazila.
Locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between the residents of Paschim Bakra and Purba Bakra villages over repaying the bill of a deep tubewell set up by the Public Health Engineering Department.
The clash ensued at around 4.00 pm Friday following an altercation between both sides over the issue.
At one stage, both the groups, equipped with homemade arms, attacked each other, leaving Habibullah dead on the spot and 15 others injured.
The injured were admitted to different clinics and the upazila health complex.
Officer-in-charge of Ashashuni Police Station Ahsan Habib confirmed the incident.
