College student's body found hanging at Jagannath Hall

The decomposed body of a college student was found hanging from a ceiling fan at Jagannath Hall of the Dhaka University (DU) Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Debashish Das, a first year student of Chemistry of the city's Titumir College. The dead body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.
Witnesses said he was used to stay with his brother Uttam Das, a master's student of Physics Department of the university at room no 285.
The body was found when Roni Shaha, a room mate of Uttam Das, came to the room after Durga Puja vacation.
He found the door locked from inside and a stench was coming out of the room. When he entered the room he found the decomposed body hanging from the ceiling fan.
On information, the hall provost came to the room and informed the university authorities.
Vice Chancellor of DU Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique said they would find out how an outsider was staying in the dormitory of the university.
However he said the dead body was sent to the DMCH for post-mortem.
