Comilla mayoral election

Monday, 9 January 2012

Recent victory of BNP Rebel Monirul Haque Sakku in mayoral election of Comilla City Corporation proved once again that people always favour a leader who is dedicated to improve common peoples' lot. Political parties must understand the pulse of the common people and during the time of selecting candidate they must nominate honest, pro-people leaders who truly represent them. Political parties must not choose candidate with dubious character. In election a candidate of good and benevolent character gets preference from other ones. Nowadays common people have become more conscious as they know that their future and development of their locality depend on choosing the right candidate. From the recent mayoral polls of Narayangonj and Comilla city corporations it has been made loud and clear. Any kind of interference in voting would have been disastrous for the government, politically and literally. It would have rekindled the politics of confrontation and distrust. The government and the election commission also deserve kudos for holding a free and fair election in a peaceful environment. Although the government-backed candidate has lost the election, it certainly has earned some praise by being neutral in the Comiila election.
