Commerce Minister for reducing

Commerce Minister M Faruk Khan, now in Yangon, has said that the trade gap between Bangladesh and Myanmar should be narrowed down and the bilateral trade volume strengthened for mutual benefit of the peoples of the two countries, reports UNB. Mr Khan was speaking as the chief guest at a dinner hosted by Bangladesh-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Sedona Hotel in Yangon Thursday evening. Yangon Division Chief Minister U Myint Swe attended the dinner as the special guest while Mayor of Yangon City Development Council was present on the occasion. The Commerce Minister stressed the need for expanding bilateral trade between the two neighbouring countries. He mentioned that Bangladesh last year exported goods worth US$23 billion and called upon the businessmen of the both countries to come forward to strengthen trade ties between the two countries. Speaking on the occasion, business leaders expressed optimism over expanding trade between the two countries. Commerce Minister Faruk Khan will hold bilateral talks with his Myanmar counterpart Nay Pyi Taw. His other programmes include courtesy call on Minister for Finance, Minister for Energy and Chairman of the Foreign Relations and Foreign Trade Committee.
