Commerce ministry's website contents improved, updated

The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) has improved its official website to cater to the needs of a diverse group of people, including exporters, traders, foreign buyers and consumers.
The salient features of the improved version include, 'Ask Your Minister', 'E-Commerce Chat', commodity prices and list of product-wise exporters.
The visitors would be free to ask any question to the commerce minister both in Bangla and English, which will be answered by the minister with in the next three days, said Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, Deputy Secretary of MoC, also in-charge of content development of the website.
"We welcome questions relating to trade and commerce, international business and issues relating to World Trade Organisation and multilateral trading arrangements", he added.
The website has included all acts and policies relating to trade, import, registration and tariff policies, while activities all departments and cells under the MoC have been explained and linked to the website to serve businessmen concerned.
Development and status of negotiations of all bilateral, regional and multilateral trade pacts have also been posted on the website.
However, the text of any trade agreement has not been posted.
The addresses of the commercial wings of the Bangladesh missions abroad can be seen on the website.
"The website has been developed at the insistence of commerce minister and special instruction has been given to update the website every day, if needed," an official said.
"We are getting overwhelming response from both local and foreign businessmen as the contents are serving the business community.'
